Having graced the Glasgow Jazz Festival stage as Artist in Residence exactly 30 years ago, in 1994, Watson’s long-awaited comeback is sure to be a highlight of this year's five-day festival.<br/>Spiritual jazz act Mama Terra will recreate songs from the classic album 'Head Hunters' by Herbie<br/>Hancock in their own sound, while kitti's Caledonian Songbook pays homage to songs in the Scots tradition from Robert Burns right up to Paolo Nutini. Winner of 2023 BBC Radio Scotland Young Jazz Musician of the Year, pianist Ben Shankland also performs an afternoon show, as well as Glasgow Improvisers Orchestra who reunite with Orphy Robinson, one of the most engaging and influential<br/>voices in British jazz. <br/>Across the city in Òran Mór, a diverse array of jazz virtuosos takes centre stage – from the smooth, intricate melodies of the Jim Mullen Trio to the funky rhythms of original member of the Average White Band Hamish Stuart and his band. _39performance-and-cocktails39-phonics-and-tom-jones-tributes-rock-saundersfoot-harbour.webp "Gig-goers at Saundersfoot harbour enjoyed a ‘performance...and cocktails’ to bring in the May Bank Holiday, and ‘just looking’ at the crowd that enjoyed this flagship event for the seaside village - tribute band The Phonics (backed by Dean Jones as Tom Jones) certainly delivered the tunes!<br/>Running through a Stereophonics best of setlist (who had a hit themselves with a track called Bank Holiday Monday) - The Phonics and Tom certainly got the harbour decking rocking - and despite it being a wet start to the holiday weekend, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the audience on May 3, as they sang-along to hits such as Dakota and Mama Told Me Not To Come.<br/>Posting on Facebook, The Phonics said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved in organising our show at Saundersfoot Harbour - to say we were blown away by how perfect everything was is an understatement! <br/>“Everything from the sound and lighting crew, the hospitality, and of course everyone who bought tickets.
